Bengal gram – one cup
Jaggery – one cup
Cardamom powder – 1 tea spoon
Grated coconut – one table spoon

For Poli
Maida – 1 ½ cup
Ghee – one table spoon
Salt – one pinch
Water – as required
Oil – to fry

Method of preparation

Take maida in a bowl, add ghee and salt and required water into it and knead it to dough. Knead the dough well to make it soft. Then keep it aside for one hour. Take a pan and fry the Bengal gram. When it becomes light brown colour take out and soak it in water for one hour. After that cook the soaked parippu ( Bengal gram). Cook till the water get drained from the gram.Heat the grated coconut in a pan . heat it till the moisture goes out from the coconut. Grind parippu and jaggery together . This should be done in the form of paste without adding water. Add fried coconut, cardamom powder into it. Make this dough into very small balls and roll it like chappathi. Place a filling ball s of Bengal gram jaggery paste into the center of the flattened dough . the again make into ball and roll it like chappathi. Cook until both sides are golden brown. Spray oil while cooking.
