Vellayka ( Machinga) – 2
Unakka Chemmeen – ½ cup
Chenathandu , Snake gaurd ( padavalanga) and Raw mango – chopped – ½ cup each
Shallots chopped – 5
Garlic sliced long – 1 tea spoon
Green chilly – cut long – 3
Grated coconut – 1 ½ cup
Turmeric powder – ½ tea spoon
Fenugreek powder – ¼ tea spoon
Coconut oil – as required
Mustard seed – 2
Curry leaves – 2 strips

Method of preparation

Remove the outer portion of the Vellayka and chop it. Till the white portion. Add water and boil it, then remove the water and again pour water and boil. Then drain out the water and make a paste. Heat coconut oil in a pan . add urud dal, mustard seed , curry leaves and allow to splutter. Then add dried chilly,(slit), shallots, garlic and fry. Then add chenathandu, padavalanga, vellayka, green chillies, unakka chemmeen and mix. add coconut, turmeric powder, chilly powder, fenugreek powder and half cup of water. Then cook it in reduced flame.
When the water get drained out add little coconut oil and mix. can serve hot
