Ingredients

1. Vazhapindi ( Plantain stem ) – 1
2. Parippu ( Dal ) – 100 gram –
3. Grated Coconut – As required
4. Green chillies – 3 nos
5. Turmeric powder – 1 tea spoon
6. cumin Seed – 1 pinch
7. Oil – 1 table spoon
8. Mustard Seed – 1 tea spoon
9. Curry Leaves – 1 strip
10. Salt – To Taste

Preparation method

Clean the Plantain stem, cut into round pieces and remove the fibres with your forefingers. Then cut the same into very small pieces . Cook the dal and keep it aside. Crush the Grated coconut, green chillies , cumin seeds and turmeric powder to make a paste. Splutter mustard seeds, add crushed paste along with the plantain stem pieces and salt and steam it till it get cooked . On getting cooked, add the cooked dal and mix well and cook for few more minutes and switch off the stove. Vazhapindi parippu thoran is ready.
