Tomato – 4
Dal (thuvara parippu)- 4 tbsp
Dried chilly – 3
Pepper – 6
Jeera – 1/4 tbsp
Corriander leaves – little
Ginger – 1
Curry leaves – 10 leaves
Salt – as needed
Oil – 2 tbsp
Garlic – 3
Mustard – 1/2 tbsp
Asafoetida – 1/4 tbsp

Cut the tomatoes to small pieces. Soak and boil the dal in 5 cups of water. Cut the dried chilly vertically. Fry the pepper, jeera and dried chilly without oil. Grate the ginger. After boiling the dal, strain off the water and cook well. Add tomatoes, the masala prepared, salt and corriander leaves and cook well until tomato gets crushed. Heat a frying pan, add mustard and curry leaves. Add asafoetida to the rasam. Add corriander leaves and serve.
