Pavakka (bitter gourd) – 1 1/2 cup
Coconut – 2 table spoon
Dried chilly – 5
Urud dal – 1 table spoon
Mustard seed – ½ table spoon
Jaggery – 1 table spoon
Tamarind – little
Curry leaves

Method of preparation

Chop the pavakka and soak it in salt water for some time and keep it aside. Take a pan. Fry the grated coconut, shallots, red chilly and urud dal till it become red colour.
Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seed and allow it to splutter. Add little urud dal, curry leaves. Mix well. Drain out the water from the cooked pavakka and add into it. Stir it continuously for five minutes. Add the tamarind juice into it and boil. When the pavakka get cooked add the grinded masala paste, jaggery and required salt and again cook. When the gravy get thickened remove from the stove and can serve hot.
