Bitter guard(pavakka) – 5
Bengal gram – 1 tea spoon
Cumin – 1/2 tea spoon
Mustard seed – ½ tea spoon
Dried chilly – 3
Garlic – 5
Grated coconut – ½ tea spoon
Turmeric powder – ½ tea spoon
Chilly powder – ½ tea spoon

Method of preparation

Clean the bitter guard and remove the seeds. Then cut it in circular shape. Marinate it turmeric powder and salt and keep it aside for ten minutes. After that take a pan and heat oil. When it get boiled add the bitter guard and fry. Fry it till it get golden brown colour. then keep this aside. Take coconut, garlic, chilly powder, and grind it to make a paste. It would be good if you squeeze out the milk and then grind. Don’t add water, heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seed, mustard, Bengal gram, dried chilly, curry leaves and fry. Add the prepared paste into it and mix. Boil this for some time. Add the fried bitter guard into it and mix. If necessary can add little salt and mix. Then remove it from the stove and serve
