Urud Dal – ½ cup ( soaked for five hours)
Onion – 1 ( chopped in medium size)
Potato – 1 ( cut in medium size)
Green chilly – 2
Ginger – ½ cup paste
Curry leaves – as required
Chilly powder – 1 ½ tea spoon
Turmeric powder – ¼ tea spoon
Coriander powder – 1 tea spoon
Garam masala – ¼ tea spoon
Salt – as required
Coconut milk – 1 ½ cup ( medium thick / randam pal)
Coconut milk – 1 cup ( thick / onnam pal)

Ingredients to fry

Oil – 1 tea spoon
Mustard seed – ½ tea spoon
Dried chilly – 1 -2
Curry leaves – one handful

Method of preparation

Soak the urud dal in water and grind It without adding much water. Add ginger, salt, green chillies into it and mix well. Then make the mix into small balls and fry it in oil till it become brown colour and keep it aside. This is similar to uzhunnu Vada.
Heat oil in a pan. Add onion, potato into it and saute for one minute. Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, pepper powder, garam masala into it and saute till the raw smell goes off. Add randam pal (medium thick coconut milk) . close the lid and cook. Also can add required salt into it. when the potato gets cooked, and the gravy gets thickened , add the onnam pal. Before it gets boiled, switch off the stove and add the fried vadas into the curry and mix.
Take a pan heat oil and add mustard seed , dried chilly, curry leaves and allow to splutter, then pour the spluttered mix on top of the curry and can serve hot.
