Ingredients

Ingredients Required for Masala
Kallumakka ( mussels ) – ½ kilo
Onion – 4 nos
Green chilly – 4 nos
Garlic – 6 cloves
Ginger – one big piece
Chilli powder – 2 table spoon
Salt – as required
Curry leaves – 2 strip
Oil – ½ cup

Ingredients required for Thenga Chammanthi

Coconut (grated ) – ½ cup
Green chilli – 5 nos
Ginger – one small piece
Coriander leaves – 2 strip
Lemon juice – 1 table spoon
Salt – as required
( mix all the above ingredients and grind it to become a paste)

Ingredients required for Basket

Maida – 2 cup
Ghee – one table spoon
Salt – as required
Water – as required
( Add water into the maida and knead it well to become a soft dough)

Ingredients required for Raita

Curd – ½ cup
Green chilli – 3 nos
Coriander leaves – ( chopped) – 2 table spoon
Salt – as required

Method of preparation

Add green chilli, coriander leaves and salt and mix well and keep it aside.
Clean the mussels (kallumakkaya) well. Add salt and turmeric powder and cook well. Remove the outer shell from the cooked mussels . heat coconut oil in a pan. Add chilly powder and , curry leaves And fry it in coconut oil.

Heat coconut oil and add the chopped onions and fry. Then add the chopped ginger, green chilly , garlic and fry for some time. The add the fried mussels into it and mix well.

Make a small balls out of the kneaded maida dough and roll it in the shape of small poori . Take a steel glass and stick this poori in the bottom part of the glass and make the poori in the shape of a basket. Then fry this basket in the oil by keeping it as it is. When it becomes heat the basket shaped poori will get removed from the glass. Likewise make all the baskets. In this basket you can initially fill the mussels masala, then fill with prepared thenga chammanthi, and above it prepared riata and then above it you can decorate with coriander leaves. Mussels stuffed basket is ready for serving
