Method of preparation
Pidi
Take a vessel , Mix the Rice Flour and Grated coconut and keep it aside for half an hour. Heat Uruli and fry the rice flour and coconut mix . This should be fried in low flame for almost half an hour by stirring continuously.
Make a paste of Garlic , shallot and cumin seed and add it in the fried rice flour. Dissolve the required salt in little hot water and pour it in the rice flour and knead it to become a soft dough. The dough should be prepared suitable to be make kozhukatta. Take a small portion of the dough and make into a small soft balls.
Boil Water in Uruli. There should be enough water in the Uruli so that the rice balls remain immersed. Boil the balls in the water. Do not immediately stir after adding the balls. Stir only when the balls are a little cooked. Balls would take 5 – 10 min maximum to get completely cooked.
Nadan Kozhi Varutharachathu
Take enough coconut oil in a Uruli to fry the onions. Heat it and add the four sliced onions into the oil and fry. The onion should be fried till it become light brown colour. While getting fried add 3 table spoon of chilly powder, 2 table spoon of coriander powder , one tea spoon turmeric powder , 4 strips of curry leaves and required salt . Nadan Kozhi need more time to get cooked and hence make the kozhi into very small pieces. Cook the kozhi pieces by adding masala and required salt for 30 minutes by closing the lid.
The next step is to make the fried coconut. Take two coconuts and grate it. Add the dried chillies and the chopped shallots into the gradated coconut and fry it by adding curry leaves till it becomes brown colour. After frying grind the same to make a fine paste. Add the paste into the cooked kozhi curry and after boiling for some time and then can remove from the flames
Pidiyum Kozhicurryum ready. Can serve hot,
